When my plans for a summer road trip with my best friend fell through I searched my bucket list for a trip I was able to do instead. I decided on a quick trip with my son to Canyon de Chelly. I only discovered the canyon existed a few years ago. It’s a well kept secret, but I’m not as well informed about geography as I’d like to think I am. We hired a Navajo guide to take us into the canyon. That’s the only way you can get into the canyon. Our guide was Daniel with Beauty Way Jeep Tours. He is really friendly and has a poetic way of describing things. We did a three hour jeep tour in the morning then in the afternoon we drove the South Rim Drive. Looking into the canyon from the overlooks, seeing the places we were during the jeep tour made me appreciate being in the canyon so much more. We both had a great time. We loved the canyon, it is beautiful. We cannot wait to go back to explore some more. There is so much to see.
*** I’m torn about posting the photos I made during the visit because I have big plans for them. I don’t want to put them on the internet yet, even if it is my own website. Although I don’t mind sharing a few iPhone shots I made.
